Poison by ingestion and subcutaneous injection. Experimental cancer- and tumor-causing additive. Human systemic effects by inhalation: headache, nausea, vomiting, fever. Implicated in aplastic anemia. Possible reproductive effects. Persistent in environment, accumulates in mammalian tissue.
