Carboxylation

Addition of a carboxyl group to a molecule.

Enzymatic addition of a -COOH group. Biotin-dependent carboxylations (e.g., acetyl-CoA carboxylase, pyruvate carboxylase) and vitamin K-dependent γ-carboxylation of glutamate residues are key nutrition-related examples.
