Caspases
Family of cysteine proteases involved in the degradative events during apoptosis.
Cysteine-dependent aspartate-specific proteases that execute programmed cell death by cleaving structural and regulatory proteins. Initiator caspases (e.g., 8, 9) activate effector caspases (e.g., 3, 7).
