Oxygen-centered radical generated when the body is exposed to γ rays or low-wavelength electromagnetic radiation.

Among the most reactive biological free radicals; produced by Fenton chemistry from H2O2 plus Fe2+/Cu+. Indiscriminately attacks lipids, proteins, and DNA.
