Bioactive compounds derived from linoleic or α-linolenic acids (n-6 and n-3 essential fatty acids).
Lipoxygenase-pathway eicosanoids that mediate bronchoconstriction, chemotaxis, and inflammation. LTB4 is a potent neutrophil chemoattractant; cysteinyl leukotrienes contribute to asthma.
