Low FODMAP Diet
Elimination-and-rechallenge protocol restricting Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides, And Polyols to manage IBS symptoms.
Also: FODMAP
Developed at Monash University, the diet proceeds in three phases: strict elimination (2 to 6 weeks), structured reintroduction of each FODMAP subgroup, and long-term personalization. Reduces gas, bloating, diarrhea, and abdominal pain in 70 to 80% of IBS patients. Should be supervised by a trained RDN to avoid nutrient inadequacy and to perform proper reintroduction.
