MIND Diet
Hybrid of Mediterranean and DASH diets emphasizing 10 brain-healthy food groups (leafy greens, berries, nuts, whole grains, fish, beans, poultry, olive oil, wine) and 5 to limit (red meat, butter/margarine, cheese, sweets, fried food).
Also: MIND
Developed by Morris et al. at Rush University, MIND adherence in observational cohorts is associated with slower cognitive decline and reduced Alzheimer disease incidence. A 2023 RCT of MIND vs usual diet with mild caloric restriction failed to show significant cognitive benefit over three years, tempering the earlier observational signal. MNHD treats MIND as evidence-informed but not yet definitively proven.
