National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey
Ongoing CDC survey combining interviews, physical exams, and laboratory tests to assess the health and nutritional status of the U.S. population.

Conducted continuously since 1999 on a nationally representative sample of ~5,000 people per year. Provides dietary intake data (via two 24-hour recalls), anthropometrics, biomarker data, and disease prevalence. The backbone of U.S. nutrition epidemiology and the basis for the Healthy Eating Index, DGA updates, and Healthy People tracking.
