Nutrition Care Process Terminology
Standardized vocabulary of ~1,700 terms used to document each step of the Nutrition Care Process.
Also: IDNT, International Dietetics and Nutrition Terminology, NCPT
Formerly called the International Dietetics and Nutrition Terminology (IDNT), the NCPT is the controlled vocabulary developed by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to standardize nutrition documentation. The full set is web-based as the electronic NCPT (eNCPT). Using NCPT terms verbatim (e.g., 'inadequate energy intake' rather than 'lack of sufficient caloric consumption') enables aggregation of data for research, reporting, and outcomes analysis.
