Oncogenes
Genes capable of causing a normal cell to convert to a cancerous cell.
Mutated or overexpressed proto-oncogenes (e.g., RAS, MYC) that drive uncontrolled proliferation. Counterbalanced in normal cells by tumor suppressor genes.
