Enzymes that transfer a functional group from one substrate to another.
EC class 2 enzymes (e.g., methyltransferases, aminotransferases, glycosyltransferases) that catalyze functional-group transfer reactions central to one-carbon metabolism, amino acid metabolism, and glycan synthesis.
