Zymogen
Inactive form of an enzyme.
Also: Proenzyme
Catalytically inactive precursor activated by proteolytic cleavage. Digestive proteases (pepsinogen, trypsinogen, chymotrypsinogen, procarboxypeptidases) and clotting factors are stored and secreted as zymogens.
